IN-8403 IR-LEDS slowly loosing brightness

Hi

I have multiple IN-8403 camera’s. The IR LEDs on all these camera’s seem to loose their brightness over time. This both over the course of weeks (the starting brightness reduces) as during the same night. At the end of the night the image is darker than at the start of the night.
I already replaced 1 camera. The replacement camera’s night vision is almost gone after 2 weeks.
The remaining camera’s (running a few months), are also very dark already.

Did I just have bad luck (bad batch/skew). What is the expected runtime of the IR LEDs?
(By default, they are on for the entire night).
Is there something I can look into?

2 are power (as the sole devices) using a POE switch (of 64W).

(I ordered them from Amazon)

Hi, maybe not a direct answer, but did you try with one Kamera the connection with the PIR sensor, so that the cameras are off by default? It would be interessting if you get a different behaviour. I use my camera with this setting so the cam is more invisible by default.

I tried this tonight. There is a very subtle difference between the start and end of the night. It seems however that the performance reduces on a daily basis. It seems like the IR LEDs are permanently “damaged” and performing badly.

When I active the IR LEDs manually (during the day, I will re-investigate tonight), the power consumption of the camera barely changes (from 4.8 to 5W). This seems very little for the IR LEDs. Any idea what they should be?

What I did notice is that I get a lot more false positives from this (detection +/- every 7 minutes). Every time the IR LEDs triggers, every zone detects something (as it goes from pitch black to something barely visible).

At night WDR could be deactivated.
What about the slider for the brightness/intensity of the IR-LED? 100% ?
And another idea belongs to the schedule for IR-LED. Are there any times activated?
And what about the threshold for switching between day & night mode. You will get dark pictures when the threshold for returning to day mode is too close to the threshold for entering night mode (low hysteresis).

I left it all default. WDR is not enabled. I attached the config for reference.

Did you try to set the spotlight intensity to zero?

I have not. I just set it to 0.

But from my understanding the spotlight intensity refers to the brightness of the white led light (which I don’t use.)

It however seems like a hardware issue as it dims over time.
To further test this hypothesis I’m going to remove 1 from the POE switch and give it its own power supply.
I’ll report back on the power consumption of the POE camera at night.
(Originally it used 7 to 8 Watts with the IR LEDs active.)

I agree on the power usage. 8 Watt wir IR and 3,5 Watt without IR via the day on my 9408 2k+

The power usage remains low at night.
I did notice that there is no longer a (visible) red glow on the IR LEDs.
They are still providing some IR light as manually turning it on/off does change what I can see on the camera.

It seems to indicate that they are running at a very low power.
I tried a factory reset (kept ip configuration). This did not help. So it seems more of a hardware issue than a software issue.

But would this mean that somewhere something is causing additional resistance? I can’t think of another reason why the IR LEDs would consume less power.
